While Mimio is known for providing very easy to use products, if you expect the implementation of your interactive classroom products to produce the best possible results, training and professional development are essential. We recognize that there are significant time restraints on each teacher's time and much is expected. A byproduct of interactive classroom products should be a significant time savings and lessons once created are saved and reused eliminating the time it takes to recreate the lesson or write it on the board numerous times.
There are a number of training options available.
Online Training
Free online training is available at www.mimio.com under the training tab. First there are self-paced lessons that consist of short (less than 3 minute) videos about very specific topics. These are quite well done and it is recommended that all teachers take the time to watch these video trainings.
Also on www.mimio.com are "Quick Learn" training sessions. These are offered outside of normal work hours. They are in webinar format and instructor lead. Each runs from 30 minutes to an hour and will quickly build a teachers skills using the Mimio products. Again, all teachers should participate in these free training webinars.
Onsite Training
With the purchase of six or more Mimio interactive whiteboard products or 3 of the MimioView document cameras or 1 of the MimioVote student response systems, onsite training is available for free. This includes one session of 1.5 to 2 hours of general product orientation and a review of the Mimio Notebook software. Purchases in excess of 30 units of any product combination will be entitled to additional free onsite training up to 5 hours, 50 products and above will receive a customized plan. After receiving this training teachers will know how to use the Mimio Notebook tools, save their work and maneuver the content found in the Mimio gallery.
Additional more in depth onsite training is available at $250.00 per hour. Specific training will be geared to meet your specific needs and can be as in depth as you would like and include creating unique multimedia interactive lesson development.
A more complete professional development training program is currently in the works and should be available in the January 2011 time frame.
When scheduling training, please remember that the trainers time is valuable. Please have all the teachers who may need training available on the scheduled date and time.
